Sausage & Egg Breakfast Strata

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French bread, cubed (day-old works best)
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage, cooked & crumbled
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk or half-and-half
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp salt

Equipment

  • 9×13 casserole dish
  • Skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk

Instructions

  1. Grease the casserole dish; scatter bread cubes evenly.
  2. Cook sausage, onions and peppers until browned. Spread over bread.
  3. Sprinkle cheese over sausage mixture.
  4. In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk and seasonings.
  5. Pour over the casserole; press bread gently to absorb liquid.
  6. Cover and chill 1 hour (or overnight for deeper flavor).
  7. Bake at 350°F for 45–50 minutes until golden and set.

Tips & Swaps

  • Use Italian sausage for stronger flavor.
  • Add spinach or mushrooms for extra veggies.

Optional Touch

Finish with a drizzle of warm hollandaise… wicked!
