Ingredients

Cake:

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 apples, peeled and diced

Crumb Topping:

  • ½ cup flour
  • ⅓ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup butter, cold & cubed
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Equipment

  • 9″ round or square pan
  • Mixing bowls

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease pan.
  2. Cream butter and sugar; add eggs, vanilla, sour cream.
  3. Stir in dry ingredients. Fold in apples.
  4. Pour batter into pan.
  5. Mix crumb topping ingredients until coarse.
  6. Sprinkle crumble over batter.
  7. Bake 40–45 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.

Tips & Swaps

  • Add pecans or walnuts to the topping.
  • Mix Honeycrisp + Granny Smith for the best flavor.

Optional Touch

Dust with powdered sugar for a bakery-style finish.
